Duke Beats North Carolina

In yet another game for the record books (and ESPN Classic), Duke blew a 17 point lead and then came back from a late 5 point deficit to beat the Tar Heels by 4 - 87 to 83. JJ Redick was spectacular and he ended the Player of the Year debate tonight. JJ scored 35 for the game shooting over 50% from the field again with 11 points and an assist in the final 4:22 when his team was down 5. Redick has proven yet again that on the road against a ranked team that he has become the clutch player he wasn't in his first three years. Now the leading scorer in the nation, Redick has far surpassed Adam Morrison for the award and the debate really is over.

The only negative from the game was the continued reckless play by freshman Greg Paulus. Paulus had a brutal game handling the ball committing quite a few turnovers and generally looking poor on the defensive end. In addition, as the point guard, I really didn't see crisp post entry passing which definitely doesn't help Shelden Williams score his points. Come tournament time, I am really interested to see how long Coach K will go with Paulus as the point guard. Coach K should consider benching Paulus like he did with McRoberts during the Georgetown game (only played 12 minutes) and has since responded with some terrific games and more aggression.
