For pushups and situps u basically pump out as many as u can in a minute each. I did about 50 of each last test which is pretty surprising cuz I was fairly inactive at the time

Hmm, in the Army there's a certain pushup level that is 100% (for your age group)

For 18-24 group, I think it's about 72 pushups and 84 situps in 2 minutes to get 100%.

However, to pass the Army-wide PT test you only need 60%, Rangers require 70%, and Ranger School requires 100%.

Now, is the coast guard set up differently? There is no score? Is it just a pass/fail go/no-go event?

Is there anyway to compare yourself to your peers? Physical fitness is one of the quickest, easiest, and most-fulfilling ways to advance your career in the military. You can be dumber than a bag of dicks and still make rank if you can run and knock out pushups.

just took my PT test at the end of my first week in IT A school and did 44 push ups in a minute, 52 sit ups in a minute and got my mile and a half down to 11:18. im pretty happy at the improvement. took about 45 seconds off in 2 weeks or so. id like to get down to about 10 minutes before i leave here which is definitely possible, my school is 6 months

Yeah you can easily shave some more time off - especially since I think you were running faster about a year or so ago when you started posting here.

Nice, open galley.

I just ate an entire box of Thin Mints so I'm about ready to stick my finger in my mouth.

Welcome to my personal Hell. I used to be able to eat whatever - now, I really have to watch every little thing I eat.
